Working in some of those mystical chime tones favoured by label mates Wen and others, "Solitaire" rolls on a perfectly nailed jungle skank that harks back to the era when the sound didn't need to be aggressive but rather meditative.

Throughout this eight-tracker jungle is the key influence, and yet the ideas flit around with the innocence and wonder of anything considered 'classic' in the genre. COM , Cardopusher. Tranzlation Whites TW 17 Sep 07 Uplifting Trance. TW 17 Dec 07 Hard Trance. The Planets: Mercury.

The first two minutes consists of a rising crescendo of celestial synth magic, a bulging melody eventually collapsing into a bass-filled void of quick touch drums and atmospheric depth. It's hard for me to understand why this would even be packaged and released. It's obviously not up to snuff and the producers had to know this. Is this some kind of prank? Or a dodgy bootleg kind of situation? However, it may become some sort of collector's item. That would be nice, I suppose.

But that still wouldn't make the record any more listenable. Reply Notify me Helpful. One of the first scenes which contain music is when we see Sully running through the streets of New York. Here is where we are introduced to "Sully's Theme" found in the track with the same name. The theme is a great display of stress and release or breathing within music. The melodic contour of the line breathes in and out which makes the melody convey human elements.

The conscious choice to use a voice for the main melodic instrument symbolizes the idea of unity or coming together as one, a key theme in the film. Many scenes in the film focus on the community of New York jointly working to help rescue and care for the people on the flight.

This symbolic theme of unity is very clear in the track "Hudson View" and "The Rescue. These moments are the highest of quality in the score. Specifically, the rescue scene demonstrates wonderful intent and knowledge on how to make a scene more impactful and meaningful with the use of music. Favorite Labels by bwrdbwrdbwrd. However as the album progresses, Sully nods to UK grime on tracks such as the chilling 'Scram' and looks to more contemporary pastures, incorporating influences from the UK bass scene and Chicago juke but still as ever adorned with those supple vocal snippets. Definitely one to check.

One of the more elusive producers out there, Sully isn't the most prolific, but everything he does release is of the highest quality: his 'Phonebox', to take just the most shining example, never leaves the box. Though he arrived on the crest of dubstep's second wave, it's not easy to pin down his sound: gritty, burnished UK garage is the key influence, but on this album there are significant.

Review: After dropping the fine tones of long player "Carrier" back in , Sully is back on Keysound with a sizable package of jungle infected wares that give a lot of the break revivalists a run for their money. Working in some of those mystical chime tones favoured by label mates Wen and others, "Solitaire" rolls on a perfectly nailed jungle skank that harks back to the era when the sound.

Yet this outstanding album, like all the Cure's best music, runs on its own brash logic, making a virtue of its emotional polarities. Smith has reason to be so confident; by several years, the Cure anticipated the loud, often abrasive, well-crafted Nineties rock of British "shoe gazers" like My Bloody Valentine and rhythm-mad Mancunians like.
