Album Rating: 4. But also some really fillers that is not up to standard. Once when ordering a Sigur Ros cd off of ebay I received two copies of this cd instead and I have since hated this record. It might be good music though I've never got around to listening to either copy.
The climax is just breathtaking. Howeverhowever, I've never understood the hate for this album from many others, which for me is right up there with U2's best.
Yes, it has some filler, but it has way too many strong songs to cop the criticism it does. Album Rating: 3. U2 Rattle and Hum 3. The decade of the 80's was an interesting time for this band from Ireland who call themselves U2.
Having started out over 10 years before from humble beginnings and the city of Dublin, and having established themselves since that time as the biggest rock band on the face of the planet, U2 entered the latter part of the decade with five albums under there belt and a monster called The Joshua Tree to live up to.
Considered among many to be one of the top live acts in the business, and having toured extensively since the beginning of the 80's, a live album and film project was put in the works to close the decade. But something interesting had happened to U2 in there journeys across America promoting their albums. So now, having paid there dues and having made their record company a ton of cash, the former little band from Dublin that could had licence to do whatever they wanted to.
And with Rattle and Hum they set out to do just that. Part live album, part studio album, and exploring somewhat diverse musical stylings, Rattle and Hum is a disjointed and joyful mix of typical U2, atypical U2, and a band who isn't U2 at all. Neither a step forward nor a step back, and having little or no narrative to hang it's hat on, this reviewer is going to tackle the album track by track. Because that's exactly the kind of album it is.
And this is the treatment that suits it best. So let's get started. We're stealing it back". It's a shaky start at best, with the band following Edge's stiff opening riff with ploding bass and drums while Bono tries his best to live up to his opening statement.
U2 never quite steal the song back for the Beatles, but they make it through with servicable competence. This performance is stiff, average, and doesn't sound much like an opener. But they make it through and change gears on the very next song. Archived from the original on 4 March Retrieved 31 January Music Week.

I'm a fan since the early 80's and The Joshua Tree continued by Rattle and Hum are the best albums for me. Studio songs and live songs mixed , black and white. The athmosphere around this album is very special to me. There are plenty of extra tracks from those sessions too.
A 2CD version could be made very easily - perhaps with a LoveTown show included also as an extra. It's time for all of these things to see the light of day. Took me a few years to warm to "Love Rescue Me", but otherwise there isn't a single dud in the studio songs. The backlash to the movie and the album all happened before I became a fan so I was ignorant to it and didn't think they deserved it. But if it hadn't copped it, U2 wouldn't have been pushed into trying something new, no Achtung Baby, and they probably wouldn't still be around today.
I would like to see a box set that includes:. Movie and music album featuring entire concert, beginning to end, from McNichols Arena in Denver on Nov. Com membership for Reviews for the movie were generally less than favorable, but the album itself was received with some praise. It was the mixed reception to the album and the film that lead U2 to go away and dream it all up again for the next project, Achtung Baby. Rattle and Hum has yet to be included in the remastered release program on CD or vinyl — it was skipped over in favor of going on to Achtung Baby and Zooropa with the release of that set in It is thought that rights issues between the film company and the record label may be preventing this from being as easy a release as the other albums.
