We'll find out in the long run. In the long run. We can handle some resistance If our love is a strong one. Is a strong one People talkin' about us, they got nothin' else to do. When it all comes down we will still come through In the long run. Ooh I want to tell you it's a long run.
You know I don't understand why you don't treat yourself better, Do the crazy things that you do. When all the debutantes in Houston, baby, Couldn't hold a candle to you. Did you do it for love, did you do it for money? Did you do it for spite, did you think you had to, honey?
Who is gonna make it? In the long run I know we can take it If our love is a strong one. Is a strong one Well we're scared but we ain't shakin', Kinda bent but we ain't breakin' In the long run.

Which means they stayed even though they could have walked away at any time, but it took them hearing some people talking the other day about putting them on a shelf. Then got mad and said I got some news for you, as many of us would have done hearing we were going to get dumped. Not really designed a deep song, it just lays it out there. I will sing this victory song isn't about violence it's just them winning and dumping the other one first, because how can the other one leave when I'm already gone?
My interpretation done pecking on a phone on break. I think it's about a woman who has enough courage to leave an abusive relationship. I will sing this victory song. I'm already gone.

Rice was introduced to virado in the 19th century after the wide-scale introduction to the crop in Brazil; it was cooked in the remains of cooked pork or sausage, and additionally flavored with lard, garlic, and salt. Dessert served with virado consisted of fresh fruit such as oranges; bananas fried with cinnamon and sugar were also common. There are several variations of virado, either around the basic ensemble of pork, fried banana, beans mashed with cassava flour, rice, kale, and fried egg.
The virado can be prepared with black beans and corn flour. One variation served in the interior of the state of Santa Catarina substitutes cooked cabbage for kale. Did you knock over my coffee? They killed the thug for being a rat. I sent the rice with chicken back because it had no flavor.

During this time of personal turmoil, I turned to music as a form of therapy, and it helped me cope with the pain that I was feeling. I fell in love with space again. By the time I felt ready to begin working on a new record, I knew that this idea of space within music would be something that propelled my new work forward. I recognized that the common thread between these artists was their attention to a feeling of space, or lack thereof. I decided that I wanted to make a Pop record with these ideas in mind.

Si no te quisiera tanto. Yo me rompo la camisa. Eres borde y no lo niegas. Por otro la vi llorar. Tu querer como el viento. Por el hablar de la gente. No quiero querer a nadie. Donde quiera que yo voy. No te acuerdas cuando entonces. Y ahora no me conoces. Quiere que te quiera loca.
Por el canal de tu pecho. Para esos doces galanes. Gitana no le temes. La gitana que a un gitano. Lleva una cruz al cuello. Si te publico me pierdo. Cuando entro en tu corral. No pegarle a mi pare. Quien cante teniendo penas. No quiero que a nadie quieras. Por lo que tu quiera pase. A un santo cristo de acero. De rodilla me hinco. Con las ganancias del sebo. Cuando vengas a mi casa.
Tan solamente a la tierra. Como la camelaba yo tanto. Tengo yo un pozo en mi casa. Un doble de fatigas, prima. Tu reja es de hierro. Ponte donde yo te vea. Prima yo te vi en un llano. Anda diciendo tu madre. Como yo la camelaba. Dicen que te vas a rifar. Quien me iba a decir. Cuando a ti nadie te quiera. La yerbabuena regarla. Me sacaste de mi trono. No seas loca y ten talento.
Y muchacha no tengas penas. No te mires en la fuente. Ay gitana que malamente gitana. Un lagarto fue a la iglesia. En el querer no hay locura. Yo hice mi casa en un cerro. Quisiera yo tener. Serrana me publicaste. Un toro bravo en la muerte. Hice un contrato contigo. Quien me compra estas botitas. AI revolver.
A to' los ojitos negros. Que es aquello que reluce. Yo le dije cara de cochino. Usa zapatitos verdes. El papel entra en la imprenta. Al alto pino lo doblo. Te saliste con el gusto. Te quiero porque te quiero. Doblen las campanas. Si quieres que vaya a verte. Tu camelabas el corral. Tengo ganas de que llegue. Gitana me publicaste. Por ver a mi madre yo diera.
Eres como la retama. Pero a cuenta de tu querer. A mi madre vi llorar. Y tiene la reina del agua en su corona. En la casa de la pena. Quien tiene pena no duerme. Tome una copa en Utrera. Hasta el reloj de la Audiencia. A golpe a golpe me mato.
Tan solamente a mi galgo. Yo me acuesto en mi cama. Porque no sabe llorar. Quiere que abandone a mi mare. Tus dientes son mis letras. Llorando al pie de un calvario.

TALI: Myself. If you had super power, what would it be? It was because I was breathing through my nose above the water. PAT: Time travel. TALI: Gotta be flight! And finally, you get to play a board game with any three famous people from history, who do you choose and what is the board game? I think it would be weird but fascinating.
I had met Pat on a recording session previously so I knew he was a talented musician and that we would get on so we went to see him playing with another band so Victoria could see and meet him. We had a rehearsal and it just worked Pat has been an integral part of the band and a great friend ever since. Finding a bass player was more tricky! We had three bass players before we found Simon Hedges, who used to be in a great grunge band in Bristol called Airbus.
He is currently working in Brussels for the BBC so we have our fifth bass player Tali Trow playing for us currently, who is also a real asset to Gypsyfingers bringing an extra layer of vocal harmonies with him.
Is there anything that you actually suck at? LUKE: Probably lots of things! Being vegetarians we are all terrible meat eaters but I think that is a good thing. You all seem super talented and can all play multiple instruments and Victoria can even sing while playing everything! Who is who in the band? Our arrangements vary according to which song we are playing. Pat plays drums, piano, keys and he sometimes sings backing vocals as well.
Luke plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar and sings, mostly backing vocals but sometimes lead. LUKE: Victoria is the lead singer and she plays piano, acoustic guitar and french horn. Tali plays bass and sings backing vocals. Who is the funny one, who keeps you going when things get a bit serious?
Get Yourself Out of Town Get yourself out of town. Naughty boy, you were bad, you sent me completely mad but only you and I know why ooh. Go on and take the 2. Romantic fire lit the corner of yours eyes.
I had fallen in love with my hearts demise with you Try to be the tamer of the shrew But I've stuck my fingers to my toes with glue. Return Shadows in the doorways flicker down the halls. My mind is slowly turning as the flames are growing tall. When all my thoughts are empty I will fill them with your face. Dry your eyes. Its not our last goodbye I will return to you my love my own The silence it is deafening and it echoes in my mind I fumble in the darkness because my love for you is blind.
Thirsty for your tenderness and hungry for your love so i pray to all the devils and I curse the gods above. You I don't know where I stand with you - Your mate, your date, your human glue?
Uncertain of my position and where I stand in situations. I don't know where I stand with you but, sometimes I feel I do and on the contrary I am growing weary of the regular let downs lead to emotional come-downs, follows a shift a narrow-minded lift you know of my strength and weakness but not of a tortured mind from sickness. I don't know where I stand with you so, give me a clue. Who am I to you…? You hold the knife, play god to the mortal life.
A match to a spark gives hope to the dark. I know I don't consider others, perhaps sometimes not much even my brothers. Who am I to you? I am not assuming, nor am I alluding to a direction somewhat romantic but I am baffled by your tactics. Hurt by an attitude I wallow in my solitude so take it or leave it go ahead exceed it tell me something honest abide by it, promise.
Carried away like a leaf on a stream, I express myself in poetic words as I struggle to speak in other worlds. I'm not inspired particularly by love but just the things that I'm thinking of. So tell me where I stand with you please tell me that I stand by you.
Eating Me On my journey I've got juice for when I'm thirsty. Seeking a remedy to put my mind at ease You can dig a hole into my soul which is hollow like a bowl. Getting deeper and darker, but not weaker the feeder of what I know is stepping over my toes and getting under my skin. I just had to figure out how it was wired, as everything had been cut. When using analogue, you have to rely on the musicians a lot more. Gypsyfingers, which crosses a whole range of genres from dance, to folk, rock and more, began as Victoria's solo project back in , until she met Luke the following year after which they recorded their first album as a duo.
The pair, who then teamed up with bandmates Simon Hedges on bass and Patrick Kenneally on drums and keys, went on to support James Blunt in Warsaw, Poland, in They last played Birmingham in support of Tubular Bells For Two - a pair of men who play the entire concept album between the two of them on stage - back in October Also reviews concerts and events, as well as writing features and celebrity interviews.

The mix and mastering were handled by Tomek Zalewski. The title "Aftereal" reflects the album's atmosphere and lyrics, and there was complete agreement in the band about that choice. The keyboard player Piotr Sikora comments, "Just like it was with 'Humagination', there's a certain leitmotif in the lyrics, which refers to the album's title. They describe realities other than our own - from nightmares, through some kind of fantasy, to the so-called netherworld.

Recorded in Holland during , the album contains eleven new songs which builds and further refines the unique style that is Winter in Eden. Featuring compelling vocals, muscular riffs, memorable hooks, swirling keyboards coupled with pounding bass and thunderous drums, the result is powerful, modern and balanced.
Whilst no two songs are alike, fans will be delighted to hear that the bands approach to this album is a familiar one. With hard and heavy anthems such as "Knife Edge" and "Toxicate", more chilled and progressive tracks such as "Burdened" and "It's Not Enough" plus the blues rock of "Affliction", this album has something for every taste and mood.
Bassist Ian Heddle reveals, "We are really pleased to have the opportunity to release 'Court of Conscience' into the world market. Whilst the digital age has broken down borders and albums can be purchased via download, some people still like to own physical copies. When Leo visits the house, he senses such evil in Shelley that he is forced to flee, much to Louise's shock. Soon, Kasper also becomes uncomfortable around Shelley, insisting that she makes strange noises that Louise doesn't hear but which drive Kasper to a strange, shell-shocked state in which he becomes completely unresponsive, to the point that he does not even react when he accidentally cuts open his own leg while chopping wood.
Louise believes none of this and is upset that Kasper doesn't seem to love their daughter. Louise wakes in the middle of the night to find Shelly missing. Rushing outside, she finds Shelley with Kaspar, who has shut them both in the car with the engine running in an apparent murder-suicide attempt via carbon monoxide.
Louise rescues Shelley and murders Kasper by slamming his head repeatedly in the car door. Shaken, Louise sits on the bed with Shelley as an unidentified man in black stands in the room with them. Suddenly the man is gone. Louise and Shelley are left alone, with no explanation for the events of the film.

Thepoint of the scene is behavior, not robbery. It turns out that this robbery is not, in fact,self-contained--it leads out of and into something--and it's not even really the first scene.
The movie's constructed like hypertext, so that, in a way, we can start watching at any point. Here we get the charming, intelligent Foley, who is constitutionally incapable of doing anything but robbing banks, and Sisco, the marshal, who had a previous liaison with a bank robber admittedly, she eventually shot him. He's waiting on the outside after the prison break. Ripley is played by Albert Brooks with a Michael Milken hairstyle that is not a coincidence.
Then there's the threesome who join Foley and his friends in a raid on Ripley's house. Snoopy Miller Don Cheadle is a nasty piece of work, a hard-nosed and violent former boxer; Isaiah Washington plays his partner, and Keith Loneker is White Boy Rob, his clumsy but earnest bodyguard.
It's ingenious how the raid involves shifting loyalties, with Foley and Sisco simultaneously dueling and cooperating. In the aftermath of the Persian Gulf War, four soldiers set out to steal gold that was stolen from Kuwait, but they discover people who desperately need their help. While in post-war Berlin to cover the Potsdam Conference, an American military journalist is drawn into a murder investigation which involves his former mistress and his driver.
An unemployed single mother becomes a legal assistant and almost single-handedly brings down a California power company accused of polluting a city's water supply.
The U. A mobster travels to Hollywood to collect a debt, and discovers that the movie business is much the same as his current job. A young boy struggles on his own in a run-down motel after his parents and younger brother are separated from him in s Depression-era Midwest.
A sexually repressed woman's husband is having an affair with her sister. The arrival of a visitor with a rather unusual fetish changes everything. A US Army colonel and a civilian woman supervising him must track down stolen Russian nuclear weapons before they're used by terrorists. A career bank robber busts out of jail Clooney with the help of his buddy Rhames and kidnaps a US Marshal Lopez in the process.
When the two cons head for Detroit to pull off their final big scam, the Marshal is put on their case but she finds she is attracted to one of them and has second thoughts about bringing them in.
Steven Soderbergh knows his way around the bizarre, nearly impossible story lines and can translate them to film as few others can. Based on the inimitable Elmore Leonard novel the story begs indulgence in credible situations but shines in quality of script and characterization and an atmospheric cinematic capturing of a dark, film noir comedy drama that grabs you by the head and holds you glued to the screen for the duration.
The story is rather simple on the surface - a jailed bank robber escapes with the help of his buddy and plans a major hit only to encounter a federal agent in pursuit of the two who becomes the love interest portion of this strangely convoluted tail.
Subplots and sidebars are sprinkled throughout Soderbergh's telling of Leonard's story, serving to keep our minds alert and mesmerized by the plot development. The cast is absolutely first rate with George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez and Ving Rhames especially pungent in roles that seem written for them. And for those who enjoy powerful sexual chemistry Clooney and Lopez offer some of their finest collaborative acting.

Full Cast and Crew. Release Dates. Official Sites. Film critic Roger Ebert gave the film three and a half out of four stars and praised Clooney's performance, stating: "Clooney has never been better. A lot of actors who are handsome when young need to put on some miles before the full flavor emerges Here Clooney at last looks like a big screen star; the good-looking leading man from television is over with.
Lopez has her best movie role thus far, and she brings it both seductiveness and grit; if it was hard to imagine a hard-working, pistol-packing bombshell on the page, it couldn't be easier here. They don't make movies like this anymore, in this overcalculated and overtested era.
Making adroit use of complex flashbacks, freeze frames and other stylistic flourishes, he's managed to put his personal stamp on the film while staying faithful to the irreplaceable spirit of the original. Weekly , Manohla Dargis wrote, "This isn't a profound film, or even an important one, but then it isn't trying to be; it's so diverting and so full of small, satisfying pleasures, you don't realize how good it is until after it's over.
In , the Motion Picture Editors Guild listed Out of Sight as the 52nd best-edited film of all time based on a survey of its membership. In later years, Soderbergh would see the film as "a very conscious decision on my part to try and climb my way out of the arthouse ghetto which can be as much of a trap as making blockbuster films.
It didn't get as much notice when it first came out at the box office but now, years later, so many people told me that was their favorite film. It's crazy. American Film Institute Lists.

The plot reeallly starts to thicken in this book! That made my day! Because that means there'll be a lot more of him, because he wasn't in the first book at all, in the second book more, not in third so much.
But seriously you guys, what do you think of Townsend? View all 3 comments. I love this series and I hate how the last book was left at a cliffhanger and I still don't know what has happened.
Ally Carter needs to write waaaay quicker and focus on one series at a time! I am really disappointed with this author and I hope Gallagher Girls book 5 is really good and worth the wait!

I am in love with this series. I can't help but binge-read the whole series to be quite honest. I am a bit obsessed with the drama and the plot lines and the characters. Ally Carter writes in a way that makes me want to be the characters or run from them.
It's so unbelievable amazing. I keep thinking about it all even after finishing the book. And I can't shake the excitement of starting the last book.
I think this is my favorite book of Cammie. Though I love Cammie quite a lot, she was a friggin I am in love with this series. Though I love Cammie quite a lot, she was a frigging badass in this one. The song, the surprising things she could do, everything was like perfection for me. I absolutely adored Zach in this book. He was like there.
Which was a fantastic thing for me. I loved reading scenes that has him in them. And Cammie. They have chemistry that you could totally see from so far away. I don't even know why I questioned that love in the beginning of this book. I just have some bad memories with other books that had a same feeling.
But no. Thank the gods above, Gallagher Girls series always prove me wrong. The girls were ah-mazing. I love all of them. Girl power to the max. I have no idea if book 6 is going to cut my chest open and take my heart. But as I already have the knowledge of Ally Carter's book, I bet my piece of cake that it will do that. Aug 03, SunriseDemon rated it it was amazing. Finally, the book that's taken two years, unfortunately.
I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this was coming out, and then I saw it was still another year away. I was ready to slam my head on my desk. This series is amazing yet she focuses on the series that aren't as popular. Which brings me to my number one complaint: Who leaves you hanging for two years on a cliffhanger like that?!
This book has so much promise, and will most likely be the second to last or third to last book in the serie Finally, the book that's taken two years, unfortunately. This book has so much promise, and will most likely be the second to last or third to last book in the series. This leaves me with one last thing to say. For God's sake woman, hurry up with the damn book! EDIT: Okay, finished it this week!
I swear, the books never stop being interesting, but after waiting a year I finish it in half a day. Just as good as the rest, and makes me want to re-read the series Nov 28, Ashpash rated it it was amazing. I love how we get to see her mature and feel uncomfortable in her own skin when she returns. Anyways i love it! Feb 17, Jessica rated it it was amazing. At the start of the series, she was a sophomore at the prestigious Gallagher Academy, a school for spies.
And despite her above average IQ and unique skill set — covert operations — she was just a teenage girl. She worried about boys, loved her friends, and craved some shred of normalcy in her life. It's the dialogue and interplay between all of these characters that's one of the films major highlights and it provide numerous light, entertaining moments.
However, these moments are balanced out with a well judged element of danger. For the most part, the personalities seem flawed and comical but Don Cheadle's chillingly psychotic Snoopy Miller, in particular, is a sobering reminder of what's at stake and what some of these career criminals are capable of.
Despite the story predominantly taking place amongst unsavoury criminals, you could say that this is as much as a romantic drama as it is a crime drama and Soderbergh handles them both and the comedy elements with a deftness. The non-linear approach demands a certain concentration as it zips back and forth while teasingly bringing everything together. When you talk about the post-modern cool of 90's crime movies then this is certainly worthy of inclusion.
Crime may be the angle of it's characters but the real crime was this being overlooked upon it's release. It didn't do well at the box-office and many have yet to still uncover this gem. Having been well versed in the work of Elmore Leonard over the years, I have to say that Soderbergh and screenwriter Scott Frank do an exemplary job here. Adaptations of Leonard's work have rarely been better.
Mark Walker. Mark W Super Reviewer. Oct 04, Often out of mind when recounting film adaptations of the late great crime-comedy cromedy? At times smolderingly hot and steely cool, the film radiates so much sizzling chemistry, humorous warmth, and edge-of-your-seat chills that you literally want to reach out to see if you'll get burned or frostbitten. Leonard's dialogue and characters always crackle but here, all involved create a perfect storm of great material and intelligent translation.
It's THAT cool. It's THAT cool looking. In this R-rated drama, a career bank robber Clooney breaks out of jail and shares a moment of mutual attraction with the US Marshall Lopez he has kidnapped. Establishing Steven Soderbergh as a H'Wood player beyond the indie sensation Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Out of Sight is blockbusting proof that filmmaker can retain their DIY sensibilities and rebellious edge in popcorn cinema. Masterfully shot and edited, he uses Devil's-in-the-details devices like color Hell, this guy uses blue to better effect than Michael Mann and overlaid audio the previous scene's dialogue continues to play out even if the camera's moved onto the next scene to set a mood.
Indeed, without this semi-polished gem, there would be no Traffic or Oceans Eleven. Plus, former TV star George Clooney stopped performing and started acting with this film. He nails the wit and spit of whip-smart lovestruck bank robber Jack Foley so well that you truly wish that crime DID pay.
Likewise, Jennifer Lopez delivers sultry and tough-as-nails as a no-nonsense arm of the law in one fell swoop. Their meet-cute in the trunk of a getaway car is one of the sexiest scenes ever committed to celluloid It's all part and partial to a film with a slang-inspired title that exemplifies truth in advertising.
Maximum Cool. Jeff B Super Reviewer. Apr 05, Pretty good caper flick performance-fueled by the chemistry of the cast, particularly Clooney and Lopez as law and disorder respectively. The main attraction here is the sizzling chemistry between Clooney and Lopez. However, the film does have some inefficient elements, such as the useless cameo from Micheal Keaton. They called themselves the Dolls. When Sylvain left the band to spend a few months in London , Thunders and Murcia went their separate ways. Thunders was eventually recruited by Kane and Rick Rivets , who had been playing together in the Bronx. At Thunders' suggestion, Murcia replaced the original drummer.
Thunders played lead guitar and sang for the band Actress. An October rehearsal tape recorded by Rivets was released as Dawn of the Dolls.
When Thunders decided that he no longer wanted to be the front man, David Johansen joined the band. The original lineup's first performance was on Christmas Eve at a homeless shelter, the Endicott Hotel. After getting a manager and attracting some music industry interest, the New York Dolls got a break when Rod Stewart invited them to open for him at a London concert.
While on a brief tour of England in , Murcia was invited to a party, where he passed out from an accidental overdose. He was put in a bathtub and force-fed coffee in an attempt to revive him. He was found dead on the morning of November 6, , at the age of Once back in New York, the Dolls auditioned drummers, including Marc Bell who was to go on to play with Richard Hell , and with the Ramones under the stage name " Marky Ramone " , Peter Criscuola better known as Peter Criss , the original and former drummer of Kiss , and Jerry Nolan , a friend of the band.
In , the band took on Marty Thau as manager. New York Dolls was produced by singer-songwriter, musician and solo artist Todd Rundgren.
In an interview in Creem magazine, Rundgren says he barely touched the recording; everybody was debating how to do the mix. Sales were sluggish, especially in the middle US, and a Stereo Review magazine reviewer in compared the Dolls' guitar playing to the sound of lawnmowers.
America's mass rock audience's reaction to the Dolls was mixed. For their next album, Too Much Too Soon , the quintet hired producer George "Shadow" Morton , whose productions for the Shangri-Las and other girl-groups in the mids had been among the band's favorites. Mercury dropped the Dolls not long after the second album. By the Dolls were playing smaller venues than they had been previously.
Drug and alcohol abuse by Thunders, Nolan and Kane as well as artistic differences added to the tensions among members. He got the band red leather outfits to wear on stage and a communist flag as backdrop. It was originally a bootleg album that was later remixed by Sylvain, with former manager Marty Thau credited as executive producer. Due to Kane being unable to play that night, roadie Peter Jordan played bass, though he was credited as having played "second bass". And while New York Dolls clearly came from a very specific time and place, this album still sounds fresh and hasn't dated in the least -- this is one of rock's greatest debut albums, and a raucous statement of purpose that's still bold and thoroughly engaging.

In fall of last year the Dolls Toured England, where their first drummer died of chemical complications. They returned to the US and added friend Jerry Nolan, who seemed to spark a tightening-up and surprising musical growth.
The band attracted a lot of record company interest, but most executives went away mumbling and snarling — with the exception of Paul Nelson, who kept coming back. It was just a document of what was going on at the time. In the studio, the New York Dolls dressed in their usual flashy clothes.
Rundgren, who did not approve of their raucous sound, at one point yelled at them during the sessions to "get the glitter out of your asses and play". Well, that's how I remember it, anyway. I mean, [the band] rarely started their live sets before midnight, so who knows? Todd was very much in charge in the studio, however, and I got the impression that everybody was looking to him. Although Sylvain said Rundgren was not an interfering producer, he occasionally involved himself to improve a take.
Sylvain recalled moments when Rundgren went into the isolation booth with Nolan when he struggled keeping a beat and drummed out beats on a cowbell for him to use as a click track. During another session, he stopped a take and walked out of the control room to plug in Kane's bass cabinet. Okay, let's try it again! But as disdainful as he appeared to be at some points he got the job done really well.
While recording the song, Johansen walked back into the control room and asked Rundgren if his vocals sounded "ludicrous enough". Because the Dolls had little money, Sylvain and Thunders played the austerely designed and affordable Gibson Les Paul Junior guitars on the record.
They jokingly referred to them as "automatic guitars" due to their limited sound shaping features. To amplify their guitars, they ran a Marshall Plexi standalone amplifier through the speaker cabinets of a Fender Dual Showman , and occasionally used a Fender Twin Reverb. He also played an Asian gong for "Vietnamese Baby" and harmonica on "Pills". He said it was a model that only he and The Beatles had. New York Dolls was mixed in less than half a day. They all had other places to be, so rather than split, they rushed the thing and if that wasn't enough they took it to the crappy mastering lab that Mercury had put them in.
Several songs on New York Dolls function as what Robert Hilburn deemed "colorful, if exaggerated, expressions of teen alienation ". Their bodies and brains are disoriented from each other Now, his thing didn't sound at all like ours, but I'm sure he stole our title. Although the Dolls exhibited tongue-in-cheek qualities, Gary Graff observed a streetwise realism in the album's songs.
This theme was explored in stories about lost youths, as on "Subway Train", or in a study of a specific subject, such as the "schizy imagemonger" on "Personality Crisis". Pills and personality crises weren't evils — easy, necessary, or whatever. They were strategies and tropisms and positive pleasures". On songs such as "Subway Train" and "Trash", Johansen used ambiguity as a lyrical mode.
But as someone says in 'Vietnamese Baby': 'Everything connects. Its controversial cover featured the band dressed in exaggerated drag , including high wigs, messy make-up, high heels, and garters. Reviews complimented their songwriting, Thunders and Sylvain's guitar interplay, and noted their campy fashion and the resemblance of Johansen and Thunders to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. However, some critics panned them as an unserious group of amateurs who could not play or sing.
New York Dolls received widespread acclaim from contemporary reviewers. He claimed the record's frenzied approach, various emotions, and wild noise convey Manhattan's harsh, deviant thrill better than the Velvet Underground. In an overall positive review, Rolling Stone critic Tony Glover said the band's impressive live sound is mostly preserved on the album.Lyrics to 'Trash' by New York Dolls.
