There was a certain style that you chose to perform the songs on At Last. Did that have any influence on your performance style for the songs on The Body Acoustic? No, actually, not at all.
Because on At Last, I didn't play any instruments; on this, I did. I played dulcimer or guitar and sang, which definitely affects how you sing.
Like, "She-Bop" is all live. I guess there were overdubs, but that was all stemming from sitting in a room together and playing live. Listening to the stripped-down versions of "She-Bop" and "Shine" made me wonder whether these songs were returned to their origins.
Since you wrote them, can you tell me if they were created in an acoustic setting, or a synthesizer setting? I've been playing it for so long, and it always changes, and that stems out of a live performance thing. I happened to do it at a VH1 concert, and the record company was there, and they loved it.
They wanted to make a record of these versions. Add Review. Add all to Wantlist Remove all from Wantlist. Have: Want: Avg Rating: 4. Jeff Beck by sioban. Cigarettes At Night by Gredos.

The song "She Bop" reached number three on the U. Billboard Hot chart in '84, meaning that everyone was rocking out to another Cyndi Lauper hit. The catchy lyrics had everyone saying "she bop, he bop, and we bop. Here, with McLachlan , she goes down into the tune's lyrics and abandons the drama of the original for the intimacy of its words. The human heart becomes the interlocutor of memory and loss. Lauper and McLachlan trade verses as strings, muted drums, and space define the place where lost love becomes the center of the question of devotion across time and space.
And so it goes with "Above the Clouds," as Beck 's trademark biting tone is juxtaposed against piano and space. This is a ballad that actually hurts.
Its drama is realized in Lauper 's phrasing and Beck 's playing bites harder accentuating it -- relaxed, slow, and deeply emotive. It's funky as hell. Deep roiling bass pops and drones with acoustic guitars, fiddles, and a dulcimer moving through and around it. The drums fall just behind the beat as the singer goes for the crack in the lyrical spine of the track.
The chorus-like refrain punches up its drama. The Body Acoustic, an Album by Cyndi Lauper. Released 8 November on Epic (catalog no. 2; CD). Genres: Pop Rock, Acoustic Rock.
