This fact plays an interesting role across most of Infernal War's efforts insofar, but most evidently in Axiom. This role is the simple yet synergy and the proverbial electricity occurring between the band members is most definitely out there, and one can't help but responsibilize the time the band members have had to hone their craft together and undisturbed.
My final observation regards the production - while very clear and professional, a plastic clean production it most certainly is not. This transparent production too plays in the favour of Axiom, providing background to the ever growing musicality of the band, while also providing a great platform for the raw but simultaneously catchy and multifaceted signature essence of theirs.
Overall, Axiom is a solid, no-filler onslaught that exhibits all the brutality and savagery one could ask from it clocking at little more than forty minutes - while not a short album, the organic flow it has to it truly gives the impression of yet another Infernal War blitzkrieg while also proving to be a very entertaining listen that reveals more of its faces the more one is subjected to it, even if it certainly isn't a bastion of originality.
Regardless, it'll undoubtedly catch a few of the skeptics off-guard, perhaps even converting them. This is an album that I was not expecting anymore! At least a hundred times postponed, the new album of Infernal War was finally released in April, eight long years after the monumental Redesekration.
Back then, it revealed to me a band of extremist brutes, focused on blast beats and totalitarianism. It was with enthusiasm that I discovered Axiom, a third collaboration between the band and their compatriots from Agonia Records.
Coronation leads the listener into a known universe. The battery runs at full speed, surrounded by tight guitar riffs that immediately recalls the previous album.
Unusual passages, however, slip into this introductory song, with two heavy breakdowns spanning almost two minutes.
Apparently not, because this experience will not be repeated. Maybe it was just a passing fever. The rest of the album will fully satisfy anyone one who appreciates the heartwarming sounds of an artillery barrage.
The impeccable production gives much power to the final product, without favoring one instrument over another. It is heavy and it hits hard.
