Restless And Wild - Accept - Accept Box (CD, Album)

Kaziktilar 0 9 Comments

It's not perfect some songs could have been left out or changed up , but the whole band is mostly stellar and the better songs are fucking unforgettable. One can see why this speed classic put the great Accept on the forefront. To bad this formula didn't last long All the albums from Accept's classic era, , are essential but this for me, is certainly the most impressive and influential.

The highlight of this album and probably of their whole career. From the hilarious prank, German folk music intro to the furious thrashy guitarwork, UDO's unmistakable vocals and the loveable Power Metal chorus, this is a metal work of art.

Dave Mustaine and Gary Holt were probably scribbling in their notepads like maniacs when they heard this. The other big highlight of the album is the track "Flash Rockin Man" which maybe barring Priest's "Saints In Hell", is one of the first thrash breaks ever used! Most of the song is taken up by the infamous "most loaned riff" first used by Venom on "Welcome To Hell", and is a solid but unspectacular traditional metal piece up until that is, when they set the intense meter up to 11 with a CRUSHING thrash riffset, which they continue for about a minute.

Welcome to the father of the bay area scene. In the other 8 tracks however, half of them are sleeping tonics and the quality of the album significantly takes a dip in the middle, with 3 completely forgettable tracks in a row.

You will shake your head at "shake your heads", "Neon Nights" is a joke next to the Sabbath number and in "Get Ready", you'll have to, for something remotely interesting in the next song! Great riffs and memorable choruses certainly crop up on other numbers here tho, like the title track with its Venom meets Maiden, crunchy Gallop and on "Ahead Of The Pack" which follows suit with choppy, thrashy riffs. UDO's vocals are a signature to the Accept sound and are an acquired taste.

It's a high pitched, deranged style which certainly on my first hear, raised my eyebrows but in time should grow on you as the metal is so great, like King Diamond and Mercyful Fate. One of the Classics. If you don't own this, you are not metal.

This disc is real Speed Metal album. After, "Neon Nights" is a dark song that makes me remain some pasagges of Black Sabbath's music '70s and Udo's voice is sweet but mighty. Then "Get Ready" is a melodic track with influences of Kiss check the chorus in a rocker stripe They are full of aggressive voices and virtuosity Dark and intense, mid-tempo Good riffs and voices.

This full-lenght is a killer! I recommend it. To anybody who says this is anything less than classic, I ask my customary question: what the hell are you smoking?

From the amusing intro of German folk music cut off by that heartstopping shriek from Herr Udo Fucking Dirkschneider one of the most unique metal voices out there on a par with Lemmy to the ominous ending of "Princess of the Dawn", this album is as pure uncut metal as it gets. Everything in between those two songs is pretty damn classic as well. The title track is great also, featuring those classic German gang chants on the chorus--the Germans were never much on backing vocals, so they make with the football chants!

Wolf Hoffman is one of my favorite underrated metal guitarists, and his quirky, distinctive style gets the spotlight here in an extended showcase of melodic, passionate stringbending and fleet-fingered classically-tinged scalar licks that are beautifully assembled into a cohesive whole. The opening riff of "Princess But really, this whole album is brilliant from start to finish. Even the slightly weaker tunes, like "Get Ready", and "Flash Rockin' Man" are better, catchier, and heavier than much of what was out there in It is one of my three fave Accept albums, and I spent lots of time absorbing this timeless release as a laddie, as should you other youngsters out there so you can understand where it all came from.

However, I beg to differ. The songwriting on this one is a bit underdeveloped compared to some of the stuff you'd find on Balls To The Wall and Metal Heart, for example. Flash Rockin' Man for example is a very solid song, but it could be much more. However, most of the stuff on here is totally killer. The classic Accept style - pure metal riffs, Udo's rough, high-pitched vocals and loads of memorable melodies - is as strong as always, but this one also takes some influences from 70's hard rock, and at times gets slower and more groovy.

Neon Nights and Get Ready are good examples of this, but it's evident through most of the songs. They do it well, and we get some really catchy material on here. Fast As A Shark begins with a silly yet hilarious intro; a gramophone playing some old bizarre thing, then abruptly stops, and Udo Dirkschneider introduces himself with the shriek of a madman.

If that's not metal, I don't know what is. And how about the actual song? It is also the first Accept album in which Udo Dirkschneider sings every track, as well as the first in which manager Gaby Hauke "Deaffy" gains credits for songwriting. Michael Wagener took engineering and mixing duties once again. Jan Koemmet joined the band briefly before the release of this album, but did not participate in the recording. The album is best known for the opening track, " Fast as a Shark ", considered among the fastest speed metal songs for the time.

Another well-known track is album closer "Princess of the Dawn", a tense song that Udo describes as "a Cinderella story" and "like a Lord of the Rings fantasy " with no deep meaning. Versions of the album released outside Germany were issued with a different cover, replacing the picture of burning guitars with a shot of the band live in concert. Restless and Wild has received mostly positive reviews. The album failed to chart in the United States. Udo has agreed with the general assessment of Restless and Wild as a landmark heavy metal record, calling it "surely the most important Accept album".

Obviously, maybe what was so cool about this time was that we weren't thinking so much. Drinking Hanging Out In Love. Introspection Late Night Partying. Rainy Day Relaxation Road Trip. Part VIII - Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (Cassette, Album)

Mozahn 0 8 Comments

The Narrow Way - Part Three The Live Set was a clever way in some respects for the four piece Pink Floyd to close the Syd Barrett chapter while the studio set showed they were moving on. And those organ notes that lead in Part Four give way to vibes and bird noises that used to sound so far away they were irritating. Can't say I'm a fan of the doomy organ later on - hasn't aged well.

But if I was to pick out one track that astonishes - it's the Waters written "Grantchester Meadows" where bird tweeting slips the song in - the acoustic guitar and kingfisher lyrics clear as a bell - such an amazing clarity to the solo too. The five-minute "Several Species Guitarist David Gilmour's "The Narrow Way" comes as a Roy Harper-type blessed relief - gorgeous acoustic guitars swirling around your speakers as they mix with way-up-the-fretboard slide guitar notes - all of it filling up an ethereal vibe.

It's one of my fave tracks on the album and to hear it sound this good is an absolute blast I can also sequence fade-out that crude segue into Part Two at the end.

The heavy-heavy grunge guitars of Part Two just sounds like period noodle to me now - but its rescued by the seven minutes of lyrics and very-Floyd Part Three. And it ends on fifty seconds or so of flute. My problem with "Ummagumma" is that even when I struggled with it back in the day, I liked Pink Floyd. But five decades haven't been kind to the worst early excesses of the band - this sort of Experimental knob constantly pawned off on us as some kind of genius because it bears the PF moniker.

Fans will adore it for sure and Hell, probably bought it back in September especially given the fantastic Das Boot Studios audio upgrade. But the uninitiated need to hear first, because 's "Atom Heart Mother", 's "Meddle" and 's "Obscured By Clouds" were so much musically better The live first CD has powerful memories for me because it corresponds to tracks in the sets I saw them playing live in Bristol on three occasions; Corn Exchange , Vic Rooms and the Colston Hall in It has more energy and much better feeling than the corresponding tracks on my old vinyl Saucerful of Secrets.

The somewhat strange second CD, was understandable at the time bearing in mind the external influences, but is way past it now, and is really only a curiosity, with a few little gems sparkling.

The first disc has always been one of my favourite albums, and I still have the vinyl Ummagumma I bought when it was first released in However time has not been kind to that aged vinyl despite being played on high quality systems with loving care. The quality on this remaster is so good, and all those happy memories from fifty years ago come flooding back. Probably one of Floyd,s most experimental albums and pretty unlistenable in many places.

No crticism of the CD itself but I should have checked out the music before ordering - even as a keen Pink Floyd fan, I don't think I'll be listening to this album very often. Cd1 in this set features Pink Floyd live and this disc alone makes Ummagumma a must have for any collection. Recorded live in from concerts in Birmingham and Manchester. Disc 2 the studio album is a different story with individual members of the band contributing individual sections.

This results in a lack of cohesion which does not represent Pink Floyd as a band at all. Ummagumma is good for the live tracks, including Roger Water's blood curdling scream on, 'Careful with that Axe, Eugene. A band lacking in direction, perhaps, at this time. I fully accept that I'm an old timer but don't think Floyd have ever done better. This is probably the worst album I have ever listened to. It sounds like a group of 2 year olds playing with garden tools in their dad's shed!

The band must of been taking class A drugs at the time. In my opinion it features some of the bands best individual performances particularly Gilmour And lyrically, especially, it's as relevant today as it ever was, if not even more so!. This album is not the easy go to album, nor the lightest album, but the lyrics and musicianship is top notch throughout and in my mind not a weak moment in the album. The production as always is excellent and highlights the bleak soundscapes and subject matter.

I cannot recommend this album enough and it rewards repeated listening. Mauricio Telles: I absolutely love it, since the first time I've heard it decades ago, and never got tired. Some of the best phrases Waters ever wrote are here, and to me, this is the best Gilmour guitar performance ever recorded. I've lost the count on how many trips I got listening to this and still resonates a lot to me. And as a bonus, you can have your dogs puzzled trying to find where is the dog barking around.

Graham Tarry: Remember getting it at the time, loving the gatefold cover, and particularly loving Sheep , which became the anthem I played before going to band rehearsals! Pigs and Dogs took longer, but eventually grew on me. Their last great album? Chris Burkill: Dogs is an absolute classic. From its haunting intro through the salesman viewpoint lyrics, to the haunting harmony guitar solo, to the inevitable, eclipse-like final verse, this is a one track equal to anything they've done elsewhere.

Billy Master: The last real group album before the dictatorship. With Rick Wright's keyboards very prominent, as they should be. This feels like a band. Not to be threatened by punk, and its short songs diktat, no problem with short songs we have proper prog length songs that meander and develop in classic Floyd style. All topped off with a truly awesome sleeve. Love it. Will O'Neil: One of their best for sure.

Lyrics are fantastic, instrumentals are great, packaging is awesome. The attitude as well. This is Floyd at their most cynical and angry. Caleb Bradley: Dogs and Pigs on the wing are fantastic. The rest feels like bloated filler. But Gilmour's tone on this whole album is just godly. The second solo in Dogs is his best work, period. John Davidson: I first heard this in the summer of In typical fashion it was one of my friend's older brothers that was a Floyd fan along with Tull and I've no doubt a few others.

I was drawn in by Gilmour's guitar playing, and held captive by the lyrics. As I've grown older and more worldly-wise, the lyrics have lost none of their potency. Furthermore, several photo outtakes have been made public in the interim.

The graphic depicted a twist on the cover image: a mechanical shaking of hands. Drummer Nick Mason said the shrink-wrap was delicious icing on the cake for the band, which, at that point, had begun to view the industry with no small amount of cynicism. They eventually went separate ways. Thorgerson continuing doing design work under the moniker StormStudios; Christopherson went on to a career in music with Throbbling Gristle and Coil ; and Powell continued film work using the name Hipgnosis.

Thorgerson passed away on April 18, , succumbing to cancer at age Christopherson had died a few years prior: Nov. Rondell was already an accomplished stuntman when he posed for the album cover. One day during recording, Barrett now heavyset, with a completely shaved head and eyebrows wandered into the studio although Mason has since stated that he is not entirely certain whether "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was the particular work being recorded when Barrett was there.

Because of his drastically changed appearance, the band did not recognize him for some time. When they eventually determined the withdrawn man in the corner was Barrett, Roger Waters became so distressed about Barrett's appearance he was reduced to tears. When asked what he thought of the song, Barrett said it sounded a "bit old".

He subsequently slipped away during celebrations for Gilmour's wedding to Ginger Hasenbein , which took place later that day. Roger was there, and he was sitting at the desk, and I came in and I saw this guy sitting behind him — huge, bald, fat guy. I thought, "He looks a bit And I said to Roger, "Who is he?

He just, for some incredible reason picked the very day that we were doing a song which was about him. And we hadn't seen him, I don't think, for two years before. That's what's so incredibly And a bit disturbing, as well, I mean, particularly when you see a guy, that you don't, you couldn't recognize him. And then, for him to pick the very day we want to start putting vocals on, which is a song about him. Very strange. The song series was first performed as "Shine On", [15] during the band's French tour in June The set was originally performed as one whole suite with some of the parts differing from the album versions, and samplings of Barrett's solo song " Dark Globe " during the opening of the performance.

The multi-part version of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was first performed on the band's North American tour with " Have a Cigar " in between the two halves of the piece. The versions were close to the final versions, except parts one and nine were still not refined yet. Parts I—V became a staple of Floyd's performances from — The track opened shows for most of the A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour of —89 and the tour closing performance at Knebworth in with Candy Dulfer on saxophone.

The back cover boasts a faceless salesman in the desert, his lack of ankles and wrists a not-so-subtle depiction of the "empty suit. The entirety of the LP cover and inner fold suggests such emptiness and vacuity, explored on tracks like "Welcome to the Machine" and "Have a Cigar. United States. Type keyword s to search.

The way you breathe eventually becomes something you do as a habit. Is the way you breathe just getting you by, or are you breathing in a way that optimizes how you work and performance? Improper breathing can harm your sleep patterns and the way you feel during the day.

Your breathing habits also have a negative impact on your muscles, brain, nervous system, and heart. Not good. However, learning the proper way to breathe helps you to think and work better, and it's also better for your health in general. While tense muscles and a quickly beating heart was useful back in the day to prepare yourself for running away from a lion, we don't tend to encounter these types of problems nowadays.

Instead, most of our stress and nervousness stems from mentally-related issues. For example, you might find yourself short of breath when someone is berating you, you need to make a difficult decision, or you're suddenly swamped with an onslaught of paperwork. When we start breathing the wrong way, it works against us because we can't think through issues and sometimes freeze up instead.

They may also be prone to osteosarcoma bone cancer. Lurchers with herding breeds in their ancestry may be prone to eye problems. Hypothyroidism is common in many dog breeds. Careful breeders screen their breeding dogs for genetic disease and breed only the healthiest and best-looking specimens, but sometimes Mother Nature has other ideas and a puppy develops one of these diseases despite good breeding practices.

Advances in veterinary medicine mean that in most cases the dogs can still live a good life. Keeping a Lurcher at an appropriate weight is one of the easiest ways to extend his life. Make the most of your preventive abilities to help ensure a healthier dog for life. The Lurcher may have a rough or smooth coat. Weekly brushing will keep the coat healthy and free of dead hair.

Introduce him to grooming early in life so that he learns to accept it willingly and patiently. The rest is basic care. Trim his nails as needed, usually once a month, and keep his ears clean and dry.

Check the ears weekly for dirt, redness or a bad odor that can indicate an infection. If the ears look dirty, wipe them out with a cotton ball dampened with a gentle pH-balanced ear cleaner recommended by your veterinarian.

Good dental hygiene is also important. Brush the teeth frequently with a vet-approved pet toothpaste for good overall health and fresh breath.

Whether you want to go with a breeder or get your dog from a shelter or rescue, here are some things to keep in mind. Finding a good breeder is a great way to find the right puppy.

A good breeder will match you with the right puppy, and will without question have done all the health certifications necessary to screen out health problems as much as possible. He or she is more interested in placing pups in the right homes than making big bucks. A good breeder can tell you about the history of the breed, explain why one puppy is considered pet quality while another is not, and discuss what health problems affect the breed and the steps she takes take to avoid those problems.

Avoid breeders who only seem interested in how quickly they can unload a puppy on you and whether your credit card will go through. Put at least as much effort into researching your puppy as you would into choosing a new car or expensive appliance. It will save you money in the long run. Red flags include puppies always being available, multiple litters on the premises, having your choice of any puppy, and the ability to pay online with a credit card.

Disreputable breeders and facilities that deal with puppy mills can be hard to distinguish from reliable operations. The puppy you buy should have been raised in a clean home environment, from parents with health clearances and conformation show and, ideally, working titles to prove that they are good specimens of the breed.

Before you decide to buy a puppy, consider whether an adult Lurcher might better suit your needs and lifestyle. Puppies are loads of fun, but they require a lot of time and effort before they grow up to become the dog of your dreams. Incredibly madness. Are you going to press replay immediately?

Review by Sean Trane. This concrete Adonis is built on hairpin turns through already strange, experimental, diverse, and unique musics and sounds and even some peppered in studio talks for that "In My Time of Dying" feel two years early.

I can hear free jazz, noise, and proto- industrial alongside the snippets of more familiar krautrock kraziness. A happy surprise comes in the form of some pieces being long, providing some wonderful extended jams that are also respites from the insanity. This defies category; it isn't even really concrete as we'd generally identify it; just mumble 'avant garde' and run.

Excellent music in a groin smashing format. For the progheads who like surprises. I would advise you to hear the LP though because it must be one of the most important of the past few years. It's not often that you hear a band that is heading off in a totally new direction - and it's surprising that when you do many of those bands are from the Continent. It would be easy to say that Faust's music was Germanic and to let it go at that but I don't think that would be enough.

It's really music born of a technological age in which there is neither time nor room for sentiment.

Faust is an experimental rock band which came out of the Hamburg music scene in the late sixties. The somewhat offensive term “krautrock” has been applied to their music, and to the genre that ensued. They first met in ’ Arnulf Meifert, Gunther Wüsthoff, Rudolf Sosna, Hans-Joachim Irmler, Jean-Hervé Péron, and Werner ‘Zappi’ Diermaier.
